Speech in Brumlovka Business Center in Prague

In June Wolfgang held a speech in Prague for interested parties from the Brumlovka Business Center. He was asked to give a speech in the style of his TEDx Talk "Change the World with Love". The Czech organization "Maranatha z.s." has supported the filming and editing of this speech. The video recording of this English-language talk at the Brumlovka Business Center in Prague can be found on this website, as well as in written form.

Visit of the orphanages Kimbondo (Madlen) and COLK in Kinshasa

On top of the regular meetings with ADH Congo and BBK members, Wolfgang had a chance to meet again with Madlen, who continues to faithfully care for the orphans in the Kimbondo orphanage. With the help of one of her influential friends, she hopes to be able to soon start building a school for the small children in her care. Healthwise she is doing relatively well considering her constant fight against cancer. ADH supports Madlen as we see what an important and excellent work she is doing with the orphans. The COLK orphanage was very thankful for our yearly support. Mama Monique and Mama Jeanette do their best for the 90 orphans in this extremely poor section of town.

Assessment of the project progress in Mabala

In March/April, Wolfgang was in Congo and visited our “Agro Veterinary High School ITAV ADH Mabala” to inspect the project as well as to encourage our teachers and students. He also gave soccer balls and jerseys to the pupils. Afterwards he travelled to Lebama, 40 km South of Mabala, and met the farmers who a while back received 500 kg of maize seeds from us for the Maize-Multiplication-Project.

Personal thanks to representatives of the German Embassy for the building cost subsidy granted

Only one and a half years after we took the first concrete steps for the school project, we could already start the first school year in September 2018 in our 'Agro-Veterinary School ITAV ADH Mabala'. The completion of the buildings and the opening of the school went so quickly because the German Embassy in Congo had covered a large part of the costs for the school construction. We are very grateful to the German Embassy for this grant for the construction costs and would like to express our personal thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries of the school construction project in Mabala and the association 'Aktive Direkt Hilfe e. V.'. During his stay in Kinshasa, Wolfgang arranged a meeting with Mrs. Roth, who is responsible for micro-projects within the department at the German Embassy, and the German Ambassador Thomas Terstegen, who finally approved the grant. On this occasion, the adjacent photo was also taken in the premises of the German Embassy in Kinshasa.

Successful Shipment of a Container with Food for Congo & Distribution in Orphanages in Kinshasa

More good news: A while back, Lenka met Pastor Daniel in Prague who is part of the NGO “Feed the Hungry”. He arranged a 40-foot container with fortified rice meal packages, so called „Manna Packs“, from the head organization in the US for Congo. Our job was to find a way to import the container duty-free into the Congo, which is not easy. After several months of preparation, it was possible to import the container customsfree through our longterm partner organization, the ”Scripture Union” in Kinshasa. “Feed the Hungry” in the Czech Republic paid the food and shipping plus another 9000 $ for handling costs, harbour fees and inland transport charges in Congo. The food was distributed to many needy people and institutions, including the COLK orphanage and 500 orphans in Kimbondo where Madlen works so selflessly.

Presentation of our work in primary school Gerbach

After his time in Congo, Wolfgang visited the Gerbach elementary school in Germany and showed the pupils our last video. These children are faithfully supporting our project since many years through their quarterly “Students Café”, with the support of their parents and teachers. It is always a pleasure to show them our appreciation and give them more insight into what they are supporting.

ADH trip through Europe

Wolfgang travelled two months in Germany, the last month together with Lenka and Anissa – to visit friends and supporters and for the annual meeting of our association. At the end of July, we had again an interview with Christopher Griebel from the Munich TV. (Interview with Munich TV, L-R: cameraman Kian Vaziri-Elahi; reporter Christopher Griebel; Wolfgang; Dr. Maria Teusch, our supporter and dentist; Anissa and Lenka) All together it was an inspiring and fruitful trip meeting new contacts and connecting deeper with our friends.
